Creating an LMS Course Template
For admins who would like to create courses from templates, you are able to use an existing course as the template for a new one by duplicating the course. These steps will walk you through creating a new template course that can be duplicated indefinitely, whenever an admin needs to create a course.
Step One: Preparing the Source
Before you can get started creating, or utilizing a Course Template, you'll want to first make sure you have a course you're prepared to make a Template from. This means populating the source course with the sections, branding, and content you want to be a staple in your future courses.
You can check the entire layout of your course by going into its Page Manager, then swapping to Course Treeview, and Expanding All.
Once you're prepared to create a template from your course, the final step is to remove all users from your source course. You can perform this from the Manage Users screen, and performing a mass-disenroll from the course, if it's not already emptied of users.
With the source formatted, and the course clear, you can now create a template from this course.
Step Two: Creating the TemplateWith the source course prepared and formatted, creating the template is incredibly simple. While Managing the source course, there are four icons in the top right of the dashboard; the third icon will bring up a prompt for you. If the course is properly prepared to be converted into a Template, you'll receive a prompt for a one-way conversion from course to template.
If the course is not yet prepared, the prompt will instead signal to you that something still needs to be done before you may proceed.
Step Three: Using the Template
With your Template saved, you can now create new courses from the template. When adding a new Online Course, select the Template you'd like to structure the new course from; the new course should look just like the source of your template.
* If proceeding directly from step two to step three, you will need to leave the "Learning" tab before the new template will become a selectable option.
